FIREARM CARRY
Treat all firearms as though they are loaded. Any firearm with a live cartridge in the chamber has the potential to accidentally discharge. Certain revolvers and semi-automatic pistols should only be kept with the hammer or firing pin resting on an empty chamber. It is your sole responsibility to use and practice extreme caution when carrying or handling any firearm.
FIREARMS RETENTION
Always be sure the firearm is un-cocked before placing it in the holster. Attempting to cock the firearm while in the holster or carrying a cocked firearm could result in accidental discharge. Always point your firearm in a safe direction. During holstering or un-holstering your handgun, keep your finger out of the trigger guard and always place your thumb on the back of the slide hammer to prevent movement during placement. Be certain it's properly seated in the holster and that any retention device is properly used.
HOLSTER FITTING
Your Diamond D holster should only be used with the designated gun model it was designed for. IF there are any doubts stop using immediately and contact Diamond D Custom Leather. Before using a holster first check it for fit with an unloaded firearm. Despite Diamond D's efforts to fit the latest model handguns, manufactures of handguns continually update their products, and even minor specification changes or other errors such as typographical or human. It is your responsibility to pay attention to detail with regard to your holster's condition, including, but not limited to, stitching, snaps, rivets, or other retaining devices, for fit and function. If at any time, your holster becomes worn, loose, defective, or ill fitting, stop use immediately. To secure your adjustable straps on chest carry model Diamond D Custom Leather holsters you can use Lock-Tight or clear acrylic nail polish on the strap screws to ensure they do not become loose during wear.
ALTERATION
You should in no way alter or modify your firearm or Diamond D Custom Leather holster. Doing so may cause accidental discharge. Diamond D Custom Leather holsters are designed and made to function safely and effectively with modern, high quality, factory equipped handguns. Handguns using modified sights, target triggers, grip adapters or trigger shoes may interfere with the proper fit between the gun and holster. Handguns with trigger shoes should never be used with any holster, due to the increased risk of accidental discharge that may occur and serious bodily injury or death.
PRODUCT STORAGE & CARE
Store leather holster in a cool dry place. High humidity can cause mildew, while dry heat and direct sunlight can cause drying and cracking. If your product becomes water soaked allow to dry at room temperature and not with direct heat. If your product should become dry or scratched, we recommend using a small amount of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on a damp sponge. Be cautious when using oil dressings, too much will soften leather. If your holster becomes wet, let it air dry or in front of a fan, NO HEAT. A damp sponge can be used to wipe off dirt. Storing brass cartridges in the leather loops may leave a greenish residue, which is normal and will wipe off. To prevent this use nickel plated cartridges.
